The California Institute of Technology, commonly referred to as Caltech, is a private university located in Pasadena, California. It maintains a strong emphasis on the natural sciences and engineering. In the 20th century, Caltech operated and managed NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), an autonomous space-flight complex that oversaw the design and operation of most of NASA's space-probes, and today Caltech still works closely with the ICSA. Though it is a small school with only about 2,100 students, it is ranked in the top ten universities worldwide.

Dr. Winston Rylo taught astrophysics at the university.

Professor Niven Anderson, director of Ad Astra, holds a doctorate in astrophysics from there.
